Tuesday January 16th

Today in math, students continued with fractions. They worked on ordering fractions and began to explore mixed and improper fractions.

Students then had gym with Ms. Cranfield and a chess lesson from Mr. Deaken. Students were given time to work on their speeches, practice caribou, and complete DRAs.

After lunch, students read Ginger Pye and worked on their speeches.

During UOI, students finished researching their religion with their partner.

Monday January 15th

Today in math, students continued learning about fractions and compared fractions to determine which was greater. They explored the relationship between the numerators and the denominators.

Students then had their spelling pre-test. They then had gym and drama with Ms. Cranfield.

After lunch, students had French with Mme. V.

During UOI time, students investigated other religions including Jainism, Sikhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.

Thursday January 11th

This morning, students continued learning about fractions in math class focusing on equivalent fractions.

Grade 4s then had gym with Ms. Cranfield while Grade 3s worked on prodigy and completed their DRAs.

After recess, students had art with Mrs. Doucette.

After lunch, students had French with Mme. V.

During UOI, students completed an assignment about Siddhartha Gautama- the first Buddha and learned about the Four Noble Truths and The Noble Eightfold Path.

Wednesday January 10th

Today in math, students continued with fractions focusing on equal parts.

Students then worked on prodigy and typing skills and had gym and drama with Ms. Cranfield.

After lunch, students learned about the different forms and positions of Buddha statues as well as learned about the life of Siddhartha Gautama- the Buddha.



Students then read Ginger Pye and answered comprehension and discussion questions.

Tuesday January 9th

Today in math, students began learning about fractions. They completed a paper folding activity and reviewed concepts such as numerators, denominators and what fractions represent.

Students then had French with Mme. V and gym and drama with Ms. Cranfield.

After lunch, students worked on their speeches and completed some cursive writing. They then read Ginger Pye.

During UOI, students shared their Gods/Goddesses and began to learn about Buddhism.

Monday January 8th

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fabulous winter break.

We had our monthly assembly this morning including learning about this month's IB attitudes and attributes (risk-taker and enthusiasm) and house games.  Congratulations to Sarah for receiving the communicator award for December.

Students then had gym with Ms. Cranfield and started a new drama unit. They also completed spelling pre-tests.

After lunch, students were given the opportunity to share what they did during the break and wrote a journal about their two weeks. Students focused on organizing their thoughts and using jot notes to plan before writing/speaking. Students were also introduced to the next novel study Ginger Pye.

For UOI, students caught up with assignments. Tomorrow students will begin to learn about Buddhism.
